LOUIS VUITTON'S NEW DIRECTOR
Very big news in fashion as Louis Vuitton have appointed a new artistic director : Virgil Abloah. He is the creator of the streetwear label OFFWHITE and also the former creative director for Kanye West, and as a huge fan of both Louis Vuitton and OFFWHITE I am very excited for the upcoming collections. He is the first ever African American director and one of the few black designers to lead a major French fashion house.
Virgil Abloh is an Ghanaian American and was raised in Illinois. He has no formal fashion education however learned to sew from his mother who was a seamstress.
He founded his statement streetwear label OFFWHITE in 2013. We are a huge fan of OFFWHITE's bags and accessory pieces which have really gained popularity this year. The utility belt in my opinion is one of the must haves of this year.
So what can we expect to see this year? Abloh has said that he is already beginning to change up some things at LV. I think we can expect to see some street wear inspiration in the collections to come.
Abloh will still continue to design for OFFWHITE and says it's for the version of himself, and Louis Vuitton as the 37 year old where he is today. His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be Paris Men's Fashion week in June :)
