One of the perks of this job is receiving exclusive invites to Ireland's biggest nights in fashion. We dress up, we do our hair and make up (Steve usually hogs the mirror) then we have a couple of bottles of prosecco and it's go time. It's our Siopaella ritual and we love it!
On Wednesday last we did our Siopaella ritual and headed to the hottest ticket in town; the Lya Solis AW 15 fashion show. The show was held in The Westin hotel on Westmoreland street.
Lya Solis is an Irish based designer who hails from Russia. Her designs are intricate and structured pieces that suit the feminine shape beautifully. The designs used in this show were influenced by the Irish landscape.
To say I was blown away would be an understatement. We were greeted with a champagne reception on arrival and met with the incredibly handsome Danny O'Reilly from The Coronas being interviewed by Aisling O'Loughlin for Xpose.
The room was gorgeous and the people even more so (my favourite part of these events is the people watching). We mingled, took photos and drank champagne.
We were then whisked into a massive ballroom with the runway set up in the middle. We took our seats and waited for the show to start. The show opened with The Coronas belting out Just Like That.
After being treated to this intimate gig the real show began. As usual her designs were stunning. The fierce dark leather looks were juxtaposed with soft, ethereal, goddess looks. I couldn't pick a favourite.
The show was styled by Courtney Smith with hair and make up done by the stunning girls at Preen Hair and Beauty.
We'd like to thank Lya Solis and Elevate PR for the invites. Take a bow Lya Solis! Your show was a roaring success.
